Tower Hamlets are in the process of preparing a new Local Plan for the Borough that is anticipated to replace the Tower Hamlets Local Plan 2031: Managing Growth and Sharing Benefits which was adopted by the Council on in January 2020.

The Regulation 18 consultation seeks to gather feedback from the local community and stakeholders on the new vision, policies, site allocations, supporting evidence and the appendices for the new local plan. It provides residents with a key opportunity to inform what the plan should contain and how it will help to shape the future of the places they live, work and play.

The consultation opened on the 6th November 2023 and will end on the 28th December 2023. Further information on the consultation can be found at https://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgnl/planning_and_building_control/planning_policy_guidance/planning_guidance.aspx.

Alongside the Regulation 18 Consultation, the Council will be undertaking Town Centre surveys to understand how residents and visitors are using the borough’s town centres and how these town centres can be enhanced. This will be done via random telephone surveys and the results will be used to inform potential policies in the new Local Plan.
