Eastbourne Borough Council have begun preparing a new Local Plan for Eastbourne that will be the key document to plan and manage growth, regeneration and development between the period of 2019 to 2039.

As part of its preparation, the Council have opened a public consultation on their Growth Strategy, which sets out the level of housing and employment growth that could be accommodated in the Borough to 2039, and where it might be located.

The consultation focuses on housing and employment growth and the key development sites that are being considered for allocation within the emerging Local Plan. This represents an early opportunity to comment on sites that may brought forward for development before any application is made on them and enables respondents to notify the Council of any issues or concerns that they may have. The Council have confirmed that there will be opportunities to respond to other issues such as climate change and protecting the natural, built and historic environment in the future.

The consultation opens today and runs until 20 January 2023.

The consultation is key in providing residents and organisation with the opportunity to contribute and shape the emerging Local Plan at an early stage, and we recommend getting involved to provide your input.

If you have any projects in Eastbourne or Lewes or are looking to respond to the consultation, speak to one team to find out how we can help.
