Client: Private
Local Planning Authority: Mid Sussex
After a failed attempt to secure planning permission to extend the property, we were asked to help. The residential property once formed part of a historic farmstead and the farmhouse next door was a listed building, this meant that the 'dairy' formed part of the setting of the listed building.
Squires Planning introduced a suitably qualified architect to prepare a more sympathetic proposal, they worked closely with the client to design an alternative proposal which respected the adjacent listed building and would hopefully meet the approval of local Council officers. We sought pre-application discussions and after receiving the response made some tweaks to the proposal before a planning application for the works was submitted.
After some further discussion, the Council’s Conservation & Planning Officer agreed the proposal was acceptable and it was approved under delegated authority - allowing our client to progress their build.
