Squires Planning were asked to advise on, and then progress a planning application for the use of the property as an 8 person house in multiple occupation (sui generis). We reviewed the existing situation, confirming that the proposed use was likely to be acceptable and advised on the works that would be required to ensure relevant development plan policy is adhered to.
In this case the principal issue identified was the amount of parking on the site, with local parking standards requiring 0.5 spaces per HMO bedspace. We prepared existing and proposed plans to demonstrate that the requisite four parking spaces could be achieved in an acceptable way without harming the character of the area.
When submitted, the application was dealt with swiftly being approved under delegated authority.
