Squires Planning were asked to help acquire permission for an extension in the Green Belt. Our instruction followed a previous application for an extension which was refused as it constituted inappropriate development in the Green Belt as the extension would have resulted in disproportionate additions over and above the size of the original building, as stated in the National Planning Policy Framework.
We therefore needed to think of alternative routes to deliver the extension, whilst avoiding conflict with national policy, and devised a three-stage strategy that would enable us to secure the permission. Each stage required an application to establish what could be built and the final stage, the application for the extension itself, was swiftly granted under delegated authority once submitted.
With Squires Planning on board, the applicant was able to turn a refusal into an approval for a very similar scheme to the original, and we are delighted to have helped our client obtain permission for their extension in the Green Belt.
The consultant team for this project comprised Squires Planning & Turner and Hoskins
