Uttlesford District Council have commenced a consultation on the Regulation 18 draft Local Plan. The draft Plan contains the vision, objectives, spatial strategy and planning policy framework that the Council considers will best address the challenges and make the most of the opportunities for Uttlesford up to 2041.
The draft Local Plan contains policies to tackle issues around meeting local housing needs, addressing climate change, meeting business and employment needs, and supporting infrastructure, transport, the economy and building healthy and sustainable communities as well as providing strategies for the North, South, Thaxted and rural areas. If adopted, these policies would be used in the determination of planning applications in the district. The Plan also seeks to allocate land with around 6,000 additional homes with development proposed at Great Dunmow, Newport, Saffron Walden, Stansted, Mountfitchet, Takeley and Thaxted.
The Council will be running 4 events through November at the Priors Green Community Hall, Saffron Walden Town Hall, Manuden Village Community Centre and The Dourdan Pavilion to provide residents and businesses with information to help them make informed comments on the draft plan.
The consultation opens today on the 3rd November and will close on the 15th December. It provides the community with the opportunity to comment on these draft policies and proposals, and to actively engage in shaping the future for development in the District.
