News & Updates

Planning updates from our team which we want to share with the world.

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick has recently updated local authorities on government measures to support hospitality businesses to reopen safely, including the intention to extend pavement licences for a further 12 months, making it easier and cheaper for pubs, restaurants and cafes to continue to make al fresco dining a reality with outside seating, tables and street stalls to serve food and drinks.

The letter confirming the support made can be read in full at https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/967264/Letter_-_Supporting_the_reopening_of_outdoor_hospitality.pdf

This latest draft of measures are welcomed by Squires Planning and will really help support a range of businesses to get going again in the coming months as the post pandemic economic recovery gets underway. In addition, it presents a range of opportunities for landowners to make use of their land this summer - for up to 56 days temporary uses can take place paving the way for campsites, events and festivals across the country.
